Summary of Development and Welfare Activities and Expenditure
Pampady Grama Panchayat – Financial Year 2019–2020
Thirteenth Five-Year Plan
The report presents the implementation of various development and welfare activities included in the Thirteenth Five-Year Plan of Pampady Grama Panchayat for the financial year 2019–2020, along with the expenditure incurred for these activities. A brief summary is given below.
1. Agriculture Sector (Agriculture Officer)
A substantial amount was utilised for various agricultural development projects.
Fruit Tree and Spice Cultivation:
A total amount of ₹2,61,330 was spent on this project.
Distribution of Bee Colonies:
An amount of ₹1,82,960 was utilised for the distribution of bee colonies.
Other Major Agricultural Projects:
- Expansion of tuber crops – Phase II – ₹1,03,500
- Organic bio-fertilisers – ₹56,833
- Organic manure for betel leaf cultivation – ₹66,000
- Coconut cultivation development – ₹2,66,688
- Financial assistance for vegetable cultivation
- Other agricultural development activities
2. Animal Husbandry (Veterinary Surgeon)
Various projects were implemented for dairy development, women’s empowerment and animal welfare.
Dairy Cow Rearing:
- General dairy cow rearing scheme – ₹18,72,500
- Dairy cow rearing scheme for women – ₹33,00,000
Calf-Rearing Programme:
Projects amounting to a total of ₹25,00,000 were included for calf rearing.
Other Projects:
- Distribution of poultry – ₹3,52,000
- Goat-rearing scheme for SC women – ₹2,40,000
- Purchase of equipment for the veterinary hospital
- Contingency expenses and other animal husbandry activities
3. Health Sector (Medical Officers)
Funds were allocated for the development and improvement of Allopathic, Homoeopathic and Ayurvedic healthcare services.
PHC/CHC:
- ₹1,00,000 was allocated for comprehensive disease-prevention activities, along with funds for other healthcare services.
Homoeopathy:
A total of ₹1,55,000 was allocated for the functioning of the Nava Homoeo Dispensary and the purchase of medicines.
Ayurveda:
- Purchase of furniture for the Ayurvedic Dispensary – ₹50,000
- Renovation and related works – ₹5,00,000
Palliative Care:
An amount of ₹1,00,000 was utilised for Pain and Palliative Care activities.
4. Housing and Social Welfare (Village Extension Officer / ICDS)
Housing Renovation:
Funds were allocated for making houses habitable:
- General category – ₹30,00,000
- Scheduled Tribe (ST) category – ₹6,00,000
- Scheduled Caste (SC) category – ₹5,15,000
LIFE Mission:
A substantial amount of ₹1,12,00,000 was allocated and utilised for the LIFE Mission Housing Scheme.
Anganwadis:
Funds were utilised for contingency expenses of Anganwadis and for the construction of feeding rooms for children.
Welfare of Persons with Disabilities:
An amount of ₹17,55,000 was allocated for scholarships and other benefits for persons with physical and mental disabilities.
5. Education and Scholarships
Funds were utilised for the improvement of playgrounds of LP schools and the installation of biogas plants.
Funds were also properly utilised for:
- Scholarships for SC/ST students
- Distribution of laptops
- Construction of study rooms – ₹4,00,000
- Other educational support programmes
6. Infrastructure Development (Assistant Engineer)
A substantial amount was allocated for re-tarring and concreting roads and renovation of public footpaths in various wards.
Road and Footpath Development:
Major works included the improvement of several rural roads and footpaths, such as:
- Chindikkadup–Kotharmala Road
- Pothanpuram–Chakkokunnu Footpath
- Padinjattukara–Putharisseri Road
- Various other rural roads and public pathways
Drinking Water Projects:
Funds were utilised for the construction of borewells and installation of pipelines in various Anganwadis and wards.
Public Facilities:
Other major activities included:
- Purchase of microphone system and furniture for the Community Hall
- Installation of solar and LED street lights
- Renovation of the Panchayat Office – ₹5,00,000
- Purchase of a generator – ₹6,00,000
- Purchase of land for a gas crematorium – ₹10,00,000
Summary
During 2019–2020, Pampady Grama Panchayat implemented a wide range of development and welfare activities using the Development Fund and Maintenance Fund, giving priority to agriculture, animal husbandry, healthcare, housing, SC/ST welfare and rural road development.
The projects also focused on LIFE Mission housing, drinking water, education, disability welfare, Anganwadi development, sanitation, street lighting and public facilities, reflecting the Panchayat’s efforts to improve basic infrastructure and the overall quality of life of the local population.
