Major Departments and Their Projects
Several development and service-oriented projects were implemented under various departments of the Panchayat.
1. Agriculture Department (Agriculture Officer)
Vermicompost Unit Construction:
An amount of ₹1,00,000 was allocated for the construction of 150 vermicompost units, with a total project target of ₹2,00,000.
Other projects:
The department also implemented projects relating to agricultural development, including:
- Expansion of tissue-culture banana cultivation – ₹40,000
- Distribution of irrigation pump sets – ₹77,646
- Development of vegetable cultivation – ₹1,79,378
- Other agricultural development activities.
2. Animal Husbandry Department (Veterinary Surgeon)
Calf-rearing programme:
An amount of ₹3,00,000 was allocated for the calf-rearing programme, along with additional amounts for related expenses.
Veterinary Hospital Development:
An amount of ₹50,000 was earmarked for the purchase of medicines for the veterinary hospital.
3. Health Sector (Medical Officers)
PHC/CHC:
An amount of ₹4,06,100 was allocated for comprehensive disease-prevention and healthcare activities, against which an expenditure of ₹90,400 was recorded.
Homoeopathy & Ayurveda:
- ₹1,50,000 was allocated for Homoeopathic services.
- ₹3,50,000 was allocated for the purchase of medicines for the Ayurvedic Dispensary.
4. Social Welfare (ICDS Supervisor)
An amount of ₹4,00,000 was allocated for scholarships for persons with physical and mental disabilities, while ₹1,76,800 was earmarked for providing necessary assistive equipment to them.
Funds were also allocated for:
- Additional remuneration for Anganwadi workers
- Travel allowances
- Uniforms for Anganwadi workers
- Other welfare-related activities.
Infrastructure Development and Other Major Projects
The largest number of projects in the report relate to road construction, drinking water projects and building renovation.
Office Renovation
An amount of ₹33,00,000 was allocated for furnishing the Pampady Panchayat Office, along with additional funds for the development of the Front Office.
Drinking Water Projects
Major drinking water projects included:
- Kannamkulam Drinking Water Project – ₹1,50,000
- Expansion of Pallikkunnu Drinking Water Project – ₹3,00,000
- Renovation of Kannelppadika Drinking Water Project – ₹2,00,000
Housing Construction and Renovation
Funds were allocated for:
- Repayment under the EMS Housing Scheme
- IAY share – ₹7,00,000
- Renovation of MN Laksham Veedu houses
- Other housing-related activities.
Road and Footpath Concreting
Various amounts ranging from ₹50,000 to ₹2,00,000 were allocated and utilised for the concreting and renovation of roads and footpaths across different wards of the Panchayat.
Examples include:
- Malampady Road
- Kilimala–Kanjirakkad Road
- Vettiparambu–Kollamparambu Road
- Various other rural roads and footpaths.
Anganwadi Renovation
Funds were utilised for the renovation and maintenance of Anganwadi buildings in different wards, including:
- Thottappally Anganwadi
- Parayanthottam Anganwadi
- Other Anganwadi centres.
Street Lights
Funds were utilised for the installation and maintenance of solar-powered street lights in various locations within the Panchayat.
Summary
During the 2015–2016 period, Pampady Grama Panchayat implemented projects giving importance to agriculture, healthcare, social welfare, roads, drinking water and other basic infrastructure, using Development Fund and Maintenance Fund allocations.
The report indicates that the Panchayat undertook a wide range of development and welfare activities aimed at improving the living standards of the local population. In many projects, the difference between the allocated amount and the actual expenditure was relatively small, indicating effective utilisation of the available funds.
