Development and Welfare Activities under the Fourteenth Five-Year Plan (2016–2017)

Pampady Grama Panchayat

The following is a summary of the development and welfare activities and expenditures undertaken by Pampady Grama Panchayat under the Fourteenth Five-Year Plan for 2016–2017. The projects implemented under the supervision of various officers are classified and summarised below.

1. Agriculture Department (Agricultural Officer)

Various projects were implemented and funds were allocated for agricultural development.

Major projects:

  • Promotion of spice cultivation.
  • Expansion of fruit tree cultivation.
  • Development of vegetable cultivation.
  • Expansion of tuber crop cultivation.

An amount of ₹1,17,645 was allocated for the expansion of fruit tree cultivation, while ₹1,30,000 each was allocated for vegetable cultivation and tuber crop development.

2. Animal Husbandry Department (Veterinary Surgeon)

Projects were planned to improve infrastructure and livelihood opportunities in the dairy and animal husbandry sectors.

Major projects:

  • Distribution of poultry.
  • Purchase of cupboards and other necessary equipment for the veterinary hospital.
  • Purchase of medicines.

An amount of ₹2,98,800 was allocated for the distribution of poultry.

3. Health Department (Medical Officers)

Funds were allocated for Homoeopathy, Ayurveda and Allopathic healthcare services.

PHC/CHC:

  • ₹4,31,050 was allocated for palliative care activities.
  • ₹1,00,000 was allocated for communicable disease prevention activities.

Homoeopathy & Ayurveda:

  • ₹1,50,000 was allocated for Homoeopathic services.
  • ₹4,00,000 was allocated for the purchase of medicines for Ayurvedic dispensaries.

4. Social Welfare Department (ICDS Supervisor)

Extensive projects were implemented for the development of Anganwadis and the welfare of persons with physical and mental disabilities.

Anganwadis:

  • Purchase of equipment for Anganwadis.
  • Provision of additional gas cylinders.
  • Provision of water filters.

Welfare Activities:
Projects were implemented to provide travel allowances and scholarships to persons with physical and mental disabilities, with an allocation of ₹5,83,600.

5. Infrastructure Development and Civil Works (VEO & Assistant Engineer)

Substantial amounts were utilised for roads, drinking water, sanitation and office infrastructure.

Drinking Water and Sanitation:

  • Installation of pipe compost units and biogas plants for source-level waste management.
  • Under the Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin), an amount of ₹16,38,000 was allocated for toilet construction.
  • Funds were also allocated for well construction and related works.

Roads and Bridges:
Major works included:

  • Ooramala–Annayi Footpath
  • Eeremathampady–Varikani Road
  • Renovation of Choorakkatti–Malanthatt Road
  • Construction of culverts
  • Other road and infrastructure development works.

Public Buildings:

  • Renovation of the Panchayat Office Building – ₹15,00,000
  • Modernisation of the Record Room.
  • Renovation of school and Anganwadi buildings.

Energy and Street Lighting:
The report also includes projects for complete electrification within the Panchayat area and expenditure on the purchase and installation of street lights, including tube lights and CFL lamps.

Summary

During the 2016–2017 period, Pampady Grama Panchayat implemented development projects giving balanced importance to agriculture, healthcare, social welfare and public infrastructure, particularly roads and drinking water projects. The projects also focused on sanitation, waste management, public buildings, Anganwadi development, electrification and street lighting, with the overall objective of improving essential public services and the quality of life of the local population.
