📊 Wards and Population – A Brief Overview

According to the official notification, Pampady Grama Panchayat has been divided into 21 wards. The population of each ward has been broadly maintained between 1,400 and 1,730.

🗺️ Key Features of the Delimitation

The following major landmarks and geographical features have primarily been used for determining the boundaries of the wards:

  1. National Highway and Major Roads: National Highway 220 (NH 220), the boundaries of Manarcad Grama Panchayat, and major junctions such as Vimalambika Junction, 7th Mile Junction, 9th Mile Junction and 12th Mile have been designated as ward boundaries.
  2. Natural Boundaries – Streams and Ponds: Natural features such as Velloor Thodu, Malam Thodu, Ponnarikkulam Culvert, Vettikottu Thodu and Mooppoika Thodu have been used to demarcate different wards.
  3. Public Institutions and Landmarks: Public institutions and prominent landmarks such as Taluk Hospitalpadi, Orvayal Substation, schools such as Nenmal CMS LPS, and religious institutions such as Kangazha Ayyappa Temple and Mulekkunnu CSI Church have been used for identifying ward boundaries.
  4. Neighbouring Grama Panchayats: The portions sharing boundaries with neighbouring Grama Panchayats such as Manarcad, Kooroppada, Vazhoor, Nedumkunnam, Meenadom and Puthuppally have been clearly demarcated.

Conclusion

  • Balanced Population Distribution: The Delimitation Commission has taken care to maintain a relatively balanced population across all wards, with only limited variation between them. This is expected to facilitate the equitable implementation of development activities.
  • Resolution of Objections: The final list was prepared after considering and resolving the objections and suggestions received from the public and political representatives regarding the draft proposal published in November 2024, following the prescribed public hearing process.
